Austin, Texas

We were really excited to get to Austin.  We had heard about a cool RV park right in town called Pecan Grove.  It was supposed to be kind of tough to get a spot there, though.  Luckily we showed up on a Sunday in October when there wasn't much going on, so we got in!  We decided to stay for three days and check out the city.

When we got there it was hot--90* hot--so we turned on the air conditioner and Mark watched football while the kids played.

That night we had dinner at Chuy's.  Apparently it was the place where Jenna (?) Bush got busted for underage drinking.  Plus it was yummy.

On Monday we went to the Austin Childrens Museum.  Mondays were under three days with singing and stories and it was really close to where we were staying.  The boys had a lot of fun learning about motion and singing ring around the rosy--and so did Mark and I...

We learned all about germs there, so made a point to wash our hands before we left.

After the museum, we went home and I made lunch while the boys played outside.

This is what the kitchen looks  like after I cook.  It is such a small space that every time we eat it turns into a disaster area.

After lunch the kids relaxed and watched some Scooby Doo (and didn't nap).

I talked to Janell in the afternoon, and she said that there was a bridge in Austin where every night tons and tons of bats took flight.  It turns out it was right near us, so that night we went to check it out.  For the best view, you are supposed to stand on the bridge and watch them fly out from where they sleep underneath, but I couldn't stand on that bridge without picturing my babies falling to their waters deaths, so, to avoid the looming panic attack, we went and sat under the bridge.  When the bats finally came out, we couldn't really see them from where we were.  It was a bummer, but Judah did make some friends while we were there...

...and get really hurt.  Ahhh, Judah.

So that was Sunday and Monday in Austin.  We had lots of fun, and there is lots more to tell, but as the internet is so painfully slow at this McDonalds, Sawyer is screaming to nurse, and Judah is on the verge of pooping in his pants, we will have to save those adventures for another day.  Until then...
