Mexico Beach, FL

When we backed into our site at Rustic Pines RV park in Mexico Beach, FL, there was a little black puppy there to help us. She had a great time chasing Judah around, and Judah totally loved it. Sawyer wasn't such a fan. The pup kept jumping on him, tipping him over, and then getting on top of him and licking his face. So while Judah played outside with the puppy, Sawyer sat on the steps and watched them. And Holden barked. After awhile, it got annoying. I carried her back to where I assumed she lived and shut the door. A few hours later, we got a knock at our door. It was our neighbor asking if we had lost our dog. Apparently the little pup didn't have a home. So the neighbor lady took her for the night, contacted everyone she could to try to find her family, and then, the next day, gave her to one of the workers to take care of.

When animal control stopped by, they said that there had been other stray puppies around the park just like this one, with the same type of collar and everything. They think that someone just dumped a bunch of them. So the lady who worked at the park decided to keep her. But, since it would be a few hours before she got off of work, we dog sat for the morning. Judah had a blast again, and the pup settled right in. Judah was sad to say goodbye, but I am so happy that she ended up with a sweet family.

So, in addition to an awesome dog adventure, this park also had amazing internet. So amazing that Mark and I spent the first couple of days here just catching up on shows and internet stuff. I am exhausted all the time, so that was fine with me. And our site was shaded and sandy, which was perfect for the kids to play in while Mark and I vegged. When they came inside they had fun, too. A lot of forts were made this week.

When we finally ran out of shows, and felt the need to stretch our legs, we explored the town. We found a good will where we picked up some books for the kids, and a pet store that sold our dog food. Then we splurged and stopped for subs. They were delicious!

On our exploration day, we drove along the cost most of the day. I saw a lot of tide pools, so the next day we decided to go check some out. But there were none. We went to several spots. The first one was windy and cold.

But by the time we got to this beach, the sun was starting to come out and the wind had died down a bit, so we walked down to the ocean.

We found a comfy spot and sat and played in the sand.

We made sand gloves.

And Judah buried my feet.

But then we got hungry. Judah was really sad to leave, so we decided we would just go get food and come back for a picnic. By the time we did that, the sun had gone away and the wind had come back. It was cold. But we still ate.

And then Mark and I bundled up while the kids played.

Sawyer thought it was hilarious to look for Mark under the blanket.

They played with their dump trucks.

Sawyer stepped on Judah's head.

Then they played with dump trucks some more.

Despite the cold, it ended up being a good time.

That night we got home, warmed up, ate popcorn, and watched a movie. The next morning I worked and we got ready to head down to the coast to our next beachy destination.

  1. That picture of you "bundled up" is timeless and gorgeous. Also love the one (two down from it) of M and J.

    Takin' FLA by storm.
